ERNST HAAS
Ernst Haas (1921 - 1986) is one of the most well known photographers of the 20th century and considered one of the best with the use of color photography. Haas was born in Vienna and started his work there before moving to the United States in 1951 to start experimenting with color film before going on to become the premier color photographer of the 1950s. Even after his death, Haas is still well renounced and continues to be subjects of many exhibitions and publications.
All of Haas's work are available to see on his official website, works ranging from books and essays to photo series and magazine articles (ernst-haas.com). And after looking through many of his work, his colored Fauna series is my personal favorite. Haas was a great portrait photographer as well, and he made many of the flowers in the Fauna series feel like they all had their portraits done.
The photo attached was my overall favorite. The way he captured and made the flower seem like it has its own personality, like how you get a feeling about what a person is like through a portrait. He made the flower seem light and dainty. The flower's petals look so delicate and elegant. I just think that even with a flower, Haas was able to pull out the feeling of gracefulness.
