MICHAEL KENNA

Michael Kenna is an English photographer, who at first wanted to become a priest, but decided against that once he discovered his talent for art. Kenna's work focuses on unusual landscapes with small light sources achieved by shooting photos at dawn or night while exposing for up to 10 hours.

I very much enjoy looking at Kenna's photographs because due to his long exposures one can see all the small and light sources of light that we usually would just look past, but his work captures all of those tiny movements.

We usually stray away from, or just don't photograph early in the morning or at night due to the lack of light source, but Kenna goes against those unwritten rules of photography. He mentions in an interview that photographers usually only have one common light source: the sun, but Kenna was fascinated with shadows and artificial light sources. And I think that his fascination shows  beautifully in his work.
